The Visions from both Masterplans refer to the potential of our rural areas to enhance the
attraction of the area and the quality of life.
Closely related to the environment are the
opportunities for active leisure in Oldham and
Rochdale - eg water base activities, walking,
cycling, horse riding, mountain biking.
| Better facilities and promotion would provide
assets for residents and bring more day
visitors to the area. |
| This topic has a potentially very wide agenda. |
| In order to provide a proper focus, ORESA is
concentrating on those issues which will assist in
economic transformation. This means
supporting projects which attract new residents
and visitors, and improve the facilities for
existing residents; and projects which improve
the image and attractiveness of the area. |
| This could involve for example: |
- Opportunities for active leisure
- Improving rural service centres
- Exploiting the Pennine ring of canals
The ORESA objective for Rural Areas is
therefore:
To create outdoor leisure product that can
be used to promote the rural areas for
residents and visitors.
| ORESA is adopting a transformational approach
by leading on joint work to define and promote
the rural leisure product across the area. |
