One of the roots for ORESA came from the
desire to place the Joint Housing Market
Renewal activity within a sound economic
context. In that respect the whole of this
strategy supports the work of Housing
Market Renewal.
There are two specific aspects which need
addressing in this strategy.
Firstly, a recognition that economic
interventions need to support the structural
changes in land use required in the inner HMR
areas. This in part relates to the legacy of sites
and premises in inner areas which was referred
to in the Employment Sites Objective.
Secondly, in order to deliver a
transformational economic agenda it is
necessary to look at the housing offer in
order to ensure that it is consistent with our
objectives to retain and attract residents in
occupations appropriate for our restructured
economy. In practice this may mean two
things:
- To provide greater diversity of choice of high quality homes
- To build new affordable homes to meet identified need and demand to the delivery of the Regional Spatial Strategy targets
| |
| |
| |
| |
The ORESA objectives for Supporting
Housing Market Renewal are therefore:
| |
To deliver economic regeneration that
supports HMR Objectives.
| |
ORESA is adding value through securing
investment that assists land use
restructuring in HMR areas. It also liaises
with HMR to define the occupations of new
and existing residents who will need
accommodation.
| |
To encourage new housing that will help
to retain existing and new residents.
| |
ORESA isl adding value through research which influences and informs the market and planning policies. |
| |
More than 10,000 homes will be built by 2018, of which 2,800 will be affordable. |
